People Are The Heritage

Ondamarela has been developing, since May, a program to celebrate the first anniversary of the classification of Hides as World Heritage, in Guimarães. Started with workshops in primary schools, this program now culminates between September 19th and 22nd, with performances, conversations, routes. This cultural and artistic cycle with the involvement of different people from Guimarães, with a special focus on the population of Couros, started from a joint reflection on the thoughts of historian Simon Thurley, who says:What defines heritage?
The people. There are two common mistakes regarding equity. The first is to think that it’s about buildings – it’s about people and what they invest in bricks. The second is to think that it’s about the past – it’s about the future, what will be left after we disappear.

To Be Here – Excentricidade in Ronfe

The result of our project “Ser Aqui”, for the Excentricidade program, in the Municipality of Guimarães, was presented in Ronfe on the 9th.
It was an intense project, surveying the tangible and intangible heritage of that town of Guimarães, and the result was very fun and exciting. Thank you to the Junta de Freguesia and the Municipality of Guimarães, thank you to the Academia da
Raão, to the Scouts of Ronfe, Flor de Lís, Fraternidade.

Thank you to everyone who took the stage!

Free your mind
Wake up, get out of the house!
Come now
Your day improves!

Excentricidade at Ronfe, Guimarães

It is with great pleasure that we return to working with communities for Excentricidade – Outro Palcos, Mais Cultura, in the Municipality of Guimarães. We are in Ronfe, creating a new project, which will take place on the 9th of December. It has been wonderful to meet these people, these stories, these sounds. Come see the result!

What a man is capable of

In 2020 we were invited by the Municipality of Guimarães to create a show with the community of S. Cláudio de Barco, based on the work of José Mário Branco. With such an inspiring motto, we started our exploratory sessions and soon the country closed, the world closed, our lives folded, in a global pandemic.
Last Saturday, May 13, 2023, we finally took this joint creation to stage, at Grupo Cultural e Recreativo de Barco.

Many thanks to the community of S. Cláudio de Barco, Guimarães, who made this project a generous process of sharing and encounters. Thank you to the Municipality of Guimarães for ExcentriCidade, to the Junta de Freguesia de Barco, to the Gcrbarco Association, to the Senior Living Room and to everyone who crossed paths with us. Special thanks to Lais Pereira for the wonderful photographic eye.

“And who dies embraced
To the life next door
You won’t live alone”

Half Way

In Guimarães we are always halfway to everything.

HalfWay – Couros’ neighbourhood, a project by Ondamarela and Design by OOF, proposes a new tourist route in one of the most emerging places in the city centre.

This is a touristic mediation object that crosses, in a creative and innovative way, the cultural offer, the heritage (material and immaterial), the nature and gastronomic offer.
Its presentation and test took place on the 29th of June, with the participation of a very diverse group of about 30 people.
